One of our priorities is to promote the work of Early Career Researchers. Currently we run the “Emerging Leaders in Redox Biology” ECR Webinar monthly, in which one or two highly promising ECRs share their recent work with the broader redox biology community. This initiative has proven to be an attractive platform for result/work dissemination for the community, with a great number of attendees. Additionally, to showcase the work of PhD students, we are organising the mini symposium “Redox Relay Race: PhD students on the move” where PhD students can present their work.

We also promote the training and networking of ECRs through the SFRR-E ECR mentoring programme. This programme connects ECRs (i.e. PhD students, Postdocs and Assis.Prof < 40 years) with established scientists (Assoc.Prof. and Prof.). The mentor-mentee relationship provides ECRs with the opportunity to connect with researchers whose academic experience and leadership skills can help the mentees navigate career progression in academia or industry.

We actively participate in the annual conference organization for the annual SFRR-E meeting, bearing the responsibility of hosting the ECR-only networking event which is a wonderful opportunity for new members in the field to connect with their peers. Additionally, through organization of the meet-the-professor session, we provide an environment to facilitate discussion between ECR and senior members of our community.

We aim to engage with the SFRR-E members and with the broader scientific community through a monthly newsletter and our social media accounts (currently Instagram, LinkedIn and X).
