SFRR-E YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS

Award winners receive a certificate at the Awards Ceremony during each Annual SFRR-E Meeting and will be supported financially to attend the next annual SFRR-Europe conference. The maximum value of the award is 800 Euros, if the annual conference is held in-person. The funding offered is to cover the meeting registration and assist with travel and accommodation costs, and will be paid after attendance at the SFRR-Europe conference.

If the annual SFRR-Europe conference is held online in a virtual format, then the award winner will receive complimentary registration and the opportunity to present their work as an oral presentation in a dedicated session. No additional funding will be offered in this event as no travel or accommodation costs will be incurred.
There will be an Oral Presentation session dedicated to previous year’s Young Investigator Award Winners, at which awardees give a short presentation (usually 10 min) of their research. This can be an update of the research presented in a poster the previous year, or a new area so long as it is still within the remit of the Society.

Normally, the registration fee for next year’s meeting is waived for the Young Investigator Award Winners, and they should be able to register as an Invited Speaker. Awardees should contact the conference organizers well in advance of the deadline for Abstract submission next year, in order to confirm that this option is available.

If so, the remainder of the 800 Euros after subtraction of the Early bird SFRR-Europe student registration fee will be paid to awardees by bank transfer after the in-person Conference. If the Invited Speaker registration option is not possible, the full 800 Euros will be paid to awardees by bank transfer after the in-person Conference.

Requirements

  • SFRR-Europe member
  • Student (PhD or MSc) or Post doc with less than 3 years’ experience after award of the PhD
  • Under the age of 35 at the time of the Congress.
  • The applicant must have made an independent and reasonable contribution to the work submitted for presentation.
  • Previous SFRR-E YIA winners are not eligible
  • Congress registration is required for the first author (only the candidate may present the paper as first author)

- there is a clear conclusion or take home message at the end
- the ability to communicate clearly in English

Award winners receive a certificate at the Awards Ceremony during each Annual SFRR-E Meeting and there is also an associated financial award, although it comes with provisos. The total value of the award is 800 Euros, and it will be paid next year after attendance at the annual SFRR-Europe conference. There will be an Oral Presentation session dedicated to previous year’s Young Investigator Award Winners, at which awardees give a short slot (usually 10 mins) to present their research.

If so, the remainder of the 800 Euros after subtraction of the Early bird SFRRE student registration fee will be paid to awardees by bank transfer after the Conference.

In case the Invited Speaker registration option is not possible, the full 800 Euros will be paid to awardees by bank transfer after the Conference.

Please note that the following conditions apply:

  • The awardee is only entitled to a Young Investigator Award if she/he is a member of SFRR-Europe
  • Awardees must attend and present at the Conference next year.
