Call for SFRR-Europe Travel Awards to attend 23rd SFRR-I Meeting in Sendai, Japan

We are pleased to announce that travel awards will be available for students and postdocs to attend the 2026 biennial meeting of SFRR-I "Expanding Horizons with New Concepts and Technologies", that will be organised by SFRR-Asia and SFRR-Japan and held in Sendai, Japan on 28-31 March 2027.
Society for Free Radical Research Europe (SFRR-E) Travel Awards
SFRR-E will provide Travel Awards of 900 Euros each for PhD students members of SFRR-E and postdoc members of SFRR-E, who are less than 5 years post-PhD (excluding career disruption) and not in permanent academic positions.
Previous awardees of SFRR-E Travel Grants to attend SFRR-I meetings held outside Europe (e.g. SFRR-I in Punta del Este, Uruguay in 2023) are not eligible to apply for this SFRR-E travel award.
The applications for travel awards for PhD students, postdocs, and junior researchers will be evaluated by a scientific committee, taking into account the scientific quality of the abstract, the motivations for
attending and the track record relative to opportunity of the applicant.
The applications should be submitted online through the SFRR-E website https://www.sfrr-europe.org
as a single PDF file containing a CV (max. 2 pages), which includes the date of PhD award, a cover letter written by the applicant, outlining your interest and motivation for attending the conference, and the
abstract of the communication to be presented during the conference.
As a member of SFRR-E you will have access to submit your application when you login into the website https://intranet.sfrr-europe.org and select the option “Travel Awards for SFRR-I Sendai” in the menu on the left.
The deadline to receive submissions is 10th October 2026.
The decision about awardees will be announced before the early-bird registration deadline and the corresponding funds will be transferred to the awardees soon after this announcement.
PLEASE NOTE: applicants must submit their abstracts online through the conference website before the deadline of 10th October. Evidence of abstract acceptance and registration must be provided to receive the travel funds.
