The SFRR-E ECR committee with support from the SFRR-E, the SFRR-E official journals and Elsevier is delighted to announce the launch of a new ECR editorial mentoring programme.
The aim of the programme is to offer Early Career Researchers (ECRs) the opportunity to increase their engagement with scientific publishing and gain experience in editorial board work and manuscript handling.
The programme will run over the year 2025 for 12 months. Selected participants will be paired with one of the Editorial Board members of one of SFRR-Europe's official journals (i.e. Free Radical Biology and Medicine, Redox Biochemistry and Chemistry, and Redox Biology). They will receive 1:1 training and mentoring in:
-
Assessing the suitability of a manuscript for consideration in the journal.
-
Identification of potential reviewers.
-
Assessing reviewer comments.
-
Details concerning decision-making and preparation of a decision letter.
-
Identification of ethical/policy questions that may arise with manuscripts submitted to the journals.
-
Learning important aspects to consider when acting as an ambassador of a journal (e.g. suggestion of topics/authors for special issues, promotion of the journal at conferences/events and diffusion in social media).
Further information about the application process and selection criteria can be found in the member’s intranet of the SFRR-E website https://intranet.sfrr-europe.org. The application document should be uploaded as a single pdf on the intranet.
Deadline for applications: 18th October 2024
